Also, you might wanna check back a few times. I still might add more stuff and modify it slightly.
WOw 500 downloads!??! Seriously??!! ANd only 2 people commented? C'mon people, gimme a shout out!! I guess most of the downloaders are gamers and not on this site. OK shoot me an email Powermacdaddy@gmail.com
Well Im rapidly closing in on 1500 downloads. After all that and not a single email from anybody out there. But I did get a few nice comments here, thanks! Anyhow Im thinking I should really make it as good as can be. I would like to add on about 3x as many planets and make it more like a galaxy. Any suggestions for details I could add? Extra info on the outside? Graphics? Help me out people!
Daaamnnn, one hell of a map! ...If I had to make a Fanfiction crossover of Star Wars(Canon/TOR/KOTOR) and an anime or series like Naruto/Korra/The Last Airbender/Akame Ga Kill/Attack on Titan/Highschool DXD/Fairy Tail/Danny Phantom/Rosario+Vampire/Monster Musume/Ninja Gaiden/Mortal Kombat/Black Lagoon/Code Geass/Full Metal Alchemist/Neon Genesis Evangelion/Kill la Kill/Cowbow Bebop/etc...Earth/Terra/suggestion would be located in the Unknown Regions one square north and five squares west of "Doh".
Also, Trandosha and Kashyyyk should be much closer to each other, the Trandoshan's had a long history of traveling to Kashyyyk to hunt Wookiees. "The Trandoshans originated on Trandosha, also known as Dosha or Hsskor. It was in the same star system as Kashyyyk, the homeworld of the Wookiees." - From Wookipedia
Ryloth should also be a lot closer to Hutt space, many Twi'leks sold themselves (or were sold) into slavery with the Hutts just so they could get off their inhospitable planet.
----a translated version of the map with the political factions of the galaxy, at a certain period in Galactic History
I'm no gamer but I guess this would be helpful to many people..
If only I could just get a dolla for every download. THat would be so nice.
I play freeform now. No system rules, no dice. Its realistic and allows the creativity to flow unhindered. It is an excellent outlet for writing. I love writing.
I'm actually not in any Star Wars games at the moment on either of the two sites I do play by post. No one plays freeform star wars, that I know of anyways; everyone plays Saga. I tend to play any game that looks good. So my games run the gambit sometimes.
But I sure know what you mean by getting fed up with confining
rule systems. I guess I mentioned on the map description that
I still play with my friend from high school (we graduated in 1991!)
But we dont use the saga rules. We use a sorta modified version
of the old West End Games rules. But its pretty freeform. Theres
lots of role playing and very little dice rolling. I still think that the
dice do well at representing the randomness in life.
I've done some fairly elaborate game aids like this little site I made
that you might enjoy
Planning a game tomorrow.... oh shit now that I think about it
I've not really prepared anything and I really should.
Ok I guess I need to go do that.
What game are you planning if you don't mind me asking.
To be blunt, I don't even think dice represent randomness well. Life is actually more consistent than it is random. If life was as random as dice make it seem in a game, nothing/little would ever be accomplished. Below is a good example of why I stopped playing with dice.
A colossal Red Dragon stands five feet from your mighty warrior who wields a great sword (basically a 6 foot long claymore). The warrior is, again, five feet away from the Dragon holding, again, a six foot long sword. Now, the dice is rolled and somehow the warrior misses wielding a six foot long sword against an enemy who is only five feet away and so big its leg is thicker than the biggest Red Wood tree imaginable and yet he still missed... It is quite literally impossible to miss, yet with dice the impossible becomes possible.
With dice, that scenario is more than possible; it happens so often I couldn't take it any longer. Nor the rules which basically detailed how my characters every action was controlled, even how he sneezed... Exaggeration, I know. I think you get the point, though.
ANyhow the story I guess is what you were askin about its Star wars and we mostly just go by the movies as cannon and make up the rest as we go. So right now we're sorta cutting back in forth in time for a few different characters and its mostly set right after Return of the Jedi, and the galaxy is sorta chaotic and lots of hidden conflicting interests vying for power. ANd it seems like half of our characters have discovered some hidden past that they forgot about so we all keep having flashbacks.
So what do you play?
We graduated in 1991 so that gives you an idea of our addiction. We did a lot of games like
Shadowrunner, DC, Top Secret, etc, but we always go back to star wars. We dont have a lot of time
for it these days since hes married and has a kid, but every few weeks we make it happen. Lots of
good times man!
So Id love to hear about what stuff y'all are doin. What kinda stories , characters etc. I so rarely meet other gamers in my life.
well right now i think we have about 5 different campaigns goin on (with different combinations of the 6 players we have in the group). i try to vary my campaigns and plotlines between them. our campaign that is based with 3 jedi is more a campaign of mystery and intrigue (with a bit of fighting here and there), then theres the campaign with a fugitive jedi and his two rag-tag teammates during imperial times which focuses more on big personal decisions (mainly picking the lesser of two evils, or the greater good over self preservation), another is with a defel and a kushiban in the Yuuzhan Vong war, and it is more stealth based (working with minimal killing and hiding the bodies), another is a group of 4 droids who were given freedom by IG-88, then deactivated for a few decades, and reawaken during the Vong war after 88 is dead (and it focuses more on corporate workings and trickery), and then theres the campaign with all 6 players together in which Dr. Evazan has fused each of their DNA with that of a different beast, and they are trying to get back to their original form (this one focuses on returning to normal, while finding benefits in their beast forms and learning to live with those forms, and then finding an equal medium between the two, forming a powerful "hybrid" form...all while trying to find Dr. Evazan)
*if you want to know more detail about any of em, go ahead and ask, i can give you a more in depth storyline*
lol and thats all of the campaigns right now ^^ how about with you? im always interested in hearing campaigns from veteran players!
Since we built up so much stuff during the 90's , it was all set during the original trilogy. We had some mercenaries and bountyhunters doing all kinds of gangsta shit sorta like a spaghetti western (one of my friends loved those Clint Eastwood movies), we had rebels vs. Imperials, smugglers and pirates, and a few of us started a rock n' roll band once.
Anyhow , the current story started like this. I invented this guy Veric -I wrote a good description of him in my other note on Julenda, so read that one 1st. Anyhow, this long lived wondering swordsman was from a race that was kinda force sensitive. At least the knights of the realm were. And my friend who was kinda playing with another group for a while had his character Jora who was sorta queen of the amazon women type. ANd by a strange coincidence he ended up building a race very similar to mine. Tiamallans are deeply religious, sorta Muslimish that way. The women are the warriors and priestesses of the force (jedis). They are a female dominated society where the women live to be 3-5 thousand years. Their religion teaches that they must dedicate their lives to being perfect warriors. Their lives revolve around becoming the perfect killing machine. So with thousands of years to practice, they get pretty good. And they are all convinced that they are the true children of the only God and all other lifeforms are worthless infidell. My race, the Earlians are a little more hippie-ish, monklike. ANyhow, we started gaming again and found that our races were super similar. So we've been sorta creating this shared mythology where we find that a lot of our cultural past was the same. Basically, a million years ago, the ancients had attained godlike powers , and created the worlds in which we live, granting us special affinity with the force etc. But we are not the only races like this. We are finding that there are others out there who share our ancient long lost past. (I guess its vaguely like the Battlestar Galactica story of the lost 13 tribes). Anyhow, there was an ancient enemy to these gods and the idea is that hes gonna come back some day and our people have to be ready for it. The Mandalorians were his guys. So historically, we just got past episode 6, and the galaxy is sorta in turmoil trying to establish a new democracy. Its all pretty chaotic and we are starting to realize that this ancient past evil is making a comeback ( I dont think we even settled on a name for this dude yet) We are starting to see the symbology of the ancient evil make a return in galactic culture. The mandalorian skull is showing up in jewlery, in art, and music, and all over the holonet. So the children of his enemies, the Tiamallans, Earlians, Twi Leks, and whichever other ones we throw in, have to all come together and get past their differences and fight this ancient evil. We're not quite sure where it is, because right now it seems to be all around us and in the shadows. Theres a lot to but Im loving the story so far.
